Procession for Ty on Front Street, Tuesday, Oct 20 at 5 pm

One of our members, Ty Gutierrez-Gordon, passed away on October 8.

Ty was a firefighter and first responder who curled with the KVFD team (Team Yee).

There will be a fire department and emergency services procession to remember Ty tomorrow:

Tue, Oct 20 at 5 pm on Front St.

It will start at the S.S. Moyie and proceed west.

Please stay on the sidewalk during the procession, but you are invited to bring a candle and light their way.

Novice Leagues

Update (October 15): Tuesday night Novice League is full.

Update (October 16): Saturday afternoon Novice League is cancelled.

All curlers are asked to read and respect the Return To Play Guidelines.

Novice League summary

Here’s an opportunity for newbies to get into the game, or for those with a little experience to learn to skip in a low stress environment.

First and second year members are invited to register for a Novice League:

Tuesdays  6:30 – 8 pm FULL
Oct 20, 27, Nov 3, 10, 17, 24

Saturdays  1 – 3 pm CANCELLED
Oct 17, 24, 31

The emphasis is on learning to curl by playing, although we usually only end up curling an end or two.

There will be a certified coach providing instruction so don’t worry if you didn’t make it to a Learn to Curl session.  Stick curlers are always welcome.

Tuesdays and Saturdays are two different “streams”, with Saturdays being more condensed. You’re welcome to attend both Tuesdays and Saturdays as long as you don’t mind some repetition. The basics of the game will be covered as well as etiquette, equipment, delivery, sweeping, strategy, and teamwork.

Cost is a $20 membership plus $5 per game and all equipment is provided.  Register by emailing kaslocurling@gmail.com, or sign up on the sheet at the club.  Payment can be made just before the game.

Attendance at all games is not required!  However, these are not drop-in sessions.  Just like in a regular curling league, please let us know if you can’t make a date so we can find a spare to take your place.
